James Mahoney
Ogg is short for Ogg Vorbis, “a completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology. . .” I highly recommend it as a replacement for mp3, wma, aac etc. Flac is short for Free Lossless Audio Codec. It compresses audio without any loss in quality, unlike ogg, mp3, wma, aac etc., preserving all the audio quality of the original wav file, but taking up less space. The files, however, are still much larger than a typical ogg or mp3 file. The wav files are CD quality.
